What is Ollitsac Therapy?
The basics of what we do, is simple. To help you understand, without pulling out your anatomy books, let’s just say that muscles are like plants. If I was to not water a plant regularly, the plant would first wilt and then die. If I was to water a plant with distilled or purified water, the results would be the same. Why? A plant needs nutrients to survive and remain healthy. In each scenario, I would be preventing the plant from receiving nutrients that are vital for it’s survival. Let me ask you a question. How do you revive a wilted plant? You simply water it, allowing the nutrients to be distributed throughout the plant, and it amazingly comes back to life. A muscle likewise needs blood to carry nutrients throughout our bodies so they can perform their function and remain healthy.

Why Do Muscles Spasm?
There are three reasons why muscles spasm.

  1. fatigue
  2. a muscle strain
  3. lack of nutrients

The first two are common in the life of an athlete. For instance, when an athlete fatigues or strains a muscle, he or she will experience a spasm. A spasm is like a dam created by beavers that will stop the water flow in a stream or debris in an aquarium filter that will, with time, make the water toxic and fill the aquarium with algae. Lack of nutrients in a muscle or muscle group will prevent the body from repairing the inflammation thus causing soreness. This is also referred to as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) which we will discuss later. The third reason for spasms, lack of nutrients, is common in most of us, especially in an inactive person. Those individuals will usually have a cardiovascular system that is not strong enough to force nutrients to the deeper muscle tissue.

The result: muscle atrophy, soreness, and spasms.

What is Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness? (DOMS)
DOMS occurs when micro tears develop in the muscle fibers due to exercise or high intensity activities. During such activity, the body produces lactic acid, which many consider it to be a foe, but it really is a friend in that it give us energy. Lactic Acid is a combination of a lactate ion and hydrogen. One of the primary functions of lactate is to enter the liver and transform into glycogen(sugar). What happens when you give a kid sugar? That’s right, hyper, energy! In order for the lactate ion to get to the liver, it needs to get into the blood stream, so it uses the hydrogen as a vehicle. Lactic acid does become a foe if it gets trapped in the muscle fibers due to a spasm. When lactic acid becomes dormant in the muscle fiber it transforms into a different chemical called Ammonia. Since ammonia is acidic, it will cause your muscles to ache, also known as muscle soreness. Another interesting fact to add about ammonia is that it is very sticky and binds muscle fibers together. Ever wonder what causes lumpy muscles?
Why is Ollitsac therapy a great solution?
OT is the solution to forcing nutrients into any muscle we work. To give a visual example, let’s imagine a full tube of toothpaste and our goal is to empty the toothpaste in it. A massage is like rubbing the tube gently. Some toothpaste will come out, but most of the toothpaste will remain in the tube. Applying pressure points buy using an elbow or thumb is like squeezing with more isolated pressure, and yes, more toothpaste will come out, but some still will remain in the tube. OT is like squeezing the end of the tube and without releasing the pressure continue squeezing all the way to the opening thus emptying out all of the toothpaste. Since our circulatory system is as it’s named, circular, when the muscle is being cleansed, fresh nutrition filled blood will fill the muscle fibers.

What can I expect during my first session?
Ollitsac Therapy is committed to meeting the needs, to the best of our ability, of every patient who comes to us for help. Realizing every person is unique, the first session in designed primarily as an assessment. During this initial appointment, our therapist will investigate your areas of concern while working to identify the cause of your symptoms. Additionally, we will be observing your body’s reaction and tolerance to our specific style of therapy.

Most often, the first session will consist of our entry level technique, ‘THE BASIC,’ which is the very first technique, now in its 30th year, created by Ed Castillo. This revolutionary style of therapy is unlike anything offered anywhere else in the therapeutic world. The first of five other levels of technique created by Ed, it is the foundation upon which he has built not only his business, but his unparalleled reputation for resolving musculoskeletal discrepancies that have stumped others in the medical field.

Upon arrival, and once your areas of concern are fully understood by our therapist, you will be escorted to one of our therapy rooms where you will be asked (in most cases) to completely disrobe. By completely disrobing, this allows the therapist to work freely on the area of discrepancy, as well as locate the origin of what is most likely a systematic problem. You will be draped at all times and will only be exposed in the areas we need to manipulate. Rest assured that we will make it a priority to ensure you feel comfortable at all times during the session. In fact, one of the most common praises we receive from our patients are about “how amazing our draping technique is,” and how “comfortable we make them feel.”

During your therapy, the amount of pressure applied is dependent on what will cause your muscle to work with us and not against us. Though our therapy is designed to go into the deeper muscle tissue, we prefer to work at your comfort level. We have found best results are achieved by proper technique not simply extreme pressure.

Since the first session is considered an assessment (though we quite often experience dramatic results at this initial visit), we ask that you return to our office for a follow-up within one week. The purpose of this second visit is to review your post-reaction to ‘THE BASIC,’ and to ensure you are progressing and not regressing in your healing process. Based on your body’s reaction to your initial visit, the therapist will then customize this second session to include more advanced techniques specifically designed for your particular needs. Also, during this second session you can expect your body to react much more quickly and fully to the therapy.

The cost for a session at OT is $75.00. This price includes the creation of S.O.A.P notes (needed by insurance companies and liens) and Billing Statements. Additionally, we often have special offers, so don’t forget to ask us.

There is a two hour minimum required, at regular rates, if our therapist accepts an appointment on their day off. We prefer not to do out-calls, but if one is accepted, we require a two hour minimum session plus the drive time. The charge for this luxury is $120.00 per/hour-which starts the moment we head to the appointment and ends at the time we arrive back to the point of origin.

We accept all major credit or debit cards, as well as personal, business, or travelers checks. We also accept good ole American cash. We do not accept health insurance at this time.

Call us today and make your appointment or you may book an appointment online!

We look forward to working with you soon!
